Codura Fabric 600D*600D PVC-D – durability, waterproofness and versatility
Waterproof Codura 600D*600D PVC-D is a strong polyester fabric designed for intensive use in demanding outdoor conditions. Made from polyester fibers in a 600D x 600D weave, it combines high mechanical resistance with full waterproof protection provided by the PVC-Diamond coating on the reverse side. This makes it an excellent choice for manufacturing durable accessories such as suitcases, backpacks, covers, and transport bags.
Thanks to its structure, Codura is resistant to abrasion, tearing, and mechanical damage, while remaining lightweight and relatively stiff. The PVC-Diamond backing gives the underside a rough, non-slip texture, increasing stability in finished products. It is ideal for use in garden furniture, awnings, sunshades, outdoor gear, transport accessories, and protective covers. The fabric retains its vivid colors and texture even after long-term outdoor use.
The fabric is easy to maintain and resistant to moisture, rain, and wind. Most stains can be removed with a damp cloth or soft sponge and mild detergent. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents containing solvents or bleach. Properly maintained, polyester fabric will remain durable and functional for years. The wide color range makes Codura suitable for many industries – from bag-making and footwear to outdoor equipment and home furnishings.
What is a basket weave?
A basket weave (a derivative of
plain weave) is one of the simplest and most versatile weaving techniques, in
which warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) threads are interlaced in pairs or
larger groups, rather than individually. This creates a structure that looks
like the fibers are arranged in a grid. Its origins date back to ancient times
– Egyptians, Chinese, and pre-Columbian peoples in the Americas used similar
weaves to make mats, baskets, and fabrics. Thanks to its tight structure,
threads are less likely to snag, increasing the fabric’s durability and
aesthetic appeal, even under heavy use. The even distribution of tension also
makes the fabric resistant to stretching and abrasion.
